COMPANY OVERVIEW

Global Power Solutions is a privately held consulting firm in the electric power industry concentrating in geothermal and gas-fired combined cycle power generation technologies. GPS specializes in performance engineering and management consulting activities, including developing test procedures, reviewing, observing, and evaluating power plant testing for owners and lenders, and recommending how plant performance can be improved. GPS also performs due diligence and optimization studies related to project economics, staffing, bidding strategies and acquisition support.

GPS has worked on projects that range in size from 10 MW to 1500 MW. Our clients include geothermal and gas fired combined cycle power plant developers, lenders (including both commercial lenders and the World Bank), and government researchers focused on advancing the state-of-the-art in geothermal plant performance from the perspectives of technical capabilities, efficiency, and economics.

The founder and principal, Gary McKay has extensive expertise in environmental permitting, operations, performance testing, geothermal resource management, and drilling. Our headquarters are in Colorado and we have worked on power projects in New Zealand, Kenya, the Philippines, Indonesia, Nicaragua, Costa Rica, Argentina, Papua New Guinea, Germany, and the United States.

Principal

GARY D. MCKAY, BSME, P.E, MBA (Finance)

Mr. McKay has over 35 in the Power Industry supporting numerous clients in the areas of plant performance, thermal sciences, engineering economics and finance. His experience includes performance analysis, economic evaluation, equipment selection, and performance testing – from initial feasibility studies to detailed engineering and operations support. Mr. McKay has developed extensive analytical and computer skills in support of this expertise.

Mr. McKay has extensive experience in geothermal power, including performance optimizations for the design of SMUDGEO#1, Oxy Geothermal No.1 and CCPA #1, together with performance assessment and enhancement work for a number of other units world-wide, and other domestic and international geothermal fields.

Prior to his work as a consultant, Mr. McKay was employed by Stone & Webster Engineering Corporation as a key member of the Heat Balance and Special Studies Group and earned an MBA in Finance. He is a Registered Professional Engineer in the State of Colorado.
